Our Story

Even though fundamentally, a decentralized non-fungible-token (NFT) marketplace gives artists equal and direct access to collectors, only 16% of the NFTs trace back to female artists and about the same amount of women own cryptocurrencies. This number is alarming, as most artists investing in NFT art and making the biggest sales are predominantly male. As a result, many female artists have found it difficult for their artwork to prevail and thrive on the market, as less women investors has led to less sales of art made by female artists. The effects of this exclusion could be long-lasting, preventing women from entering the NFT-market later on (ArtTactic, 2020). 

In order to mitigate the effects of these three issues, the all-women-led Kolmnaist Project will aim to acknowledge female inventors, activists, researchers, and artists, both deceased and alive. This project will put 15 NFTs on the market with a backstory of each individual in collaboration with female artists from Brazil. 

The Kolmnaist Project will use three main tactics:

• Connecting with less-known female artists from Brazil and introducing them to non-fungible tokens

• Marketing 15 NFTs to both experienced female NFT investors and those looking to join the digital investment sphere with no previous experience

• Sharing the revenue with the female artists and charities supporting women and women-led activities
